About the ESP32-Flight-Controller PCB

ESP32-Flight-Controller is an open source ESP32 PCB design by shazmeenShz, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 66.5 × 47 mm, with 44 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, CH340C and MPU-6050. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 11 resistors, 6 connectors, 4 ICs, 3 diodes and 2 switches.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, iot & wireless and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Custom 4-layer IoT-Ready ESP32 Flight Controller PCB designed in KiCad 8 featuring USB Type-C, CH340C, MP1584 power management, MPU6050 interface, and manufacturing-ready Gerber files.

This project is a custom-designed 4-layer ESP32-based Flight Controller PCB developed in KiCad 8. Built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E, the board integrates power management, sensor interfaces, USB programming, and wireless connectivity capabilities, making it suitable for UAVs, robotics, and IoT-enabled embedded systems.

The design follows industry-standard PCB practices, including dedicated ground and power planes, RF antenna keep-out, proper decoupling, and comprehensive Design Rule Checking (DRC), resulting in a manufacturing-ready hardware platform.

ESP32-Flight-Controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP32-Flight-Controller use?

The ESP32-Flight-Controller is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32E, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the ESP32-Flight-Controller PCB?

The ESP32-Flight-Controller measures 66.5 × 47 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP32-Flight-Controller?

44 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP32-Flight-Controller design files?

From the shazmeenShz/ESP32-Flight-Controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP32-Flight-Controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which shazmeenShz chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ESP32-Flight-Controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
