About the Bkm-68x simple PCB

Bkm-68x simple is an open source FPGA PCB design by skumlos, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 230.4 × 233.5 mm, with 206 components from 66 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the 10M08SC, from the FPGA family. Other key parts include the ADG1611BCPZ, THS7374, ISL59885, ADG734 and 74LVC14A. By type, the board carries 84 resistors, 68 capacitors, 18 ICs, 14 diodes, 13 connectors and 6 switches.

From the project

Simplified BKM-68X

This project aims to serve as an alternative to the crazy expensive Sony BKM-68X RGB/YPbPr input card for Sony BVM-A monitors like the BVM-A14F5, A20F1, A24E1W and A32E1W (M/U/A).

The board is rather simple albeit has some components that are not so simple to hand solder, and it also has a quite high component count (due to a load of resistors and caps).

It's buildup is basically an analog section that deals with video, and a digital section that speaks to the monitor.

Bkm-68x simple: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bkm-68x simple use?

The Bkm-68x simple is built around the 10M08SC, from the FPGA family.

How big is the Bkm-68x simple PCB?

The Bkm-68x simple measures 230.4 × 233.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bkm-68x simple?

206 components, from 66 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bkm-68x simple design files?

From the skumlos/bkm-68x-simple repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bkm-68x simple design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which skumlos chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bkm-68x simple without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
