About the ICEPico PCB
ICEPico is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by SorenGilkeyJohnson, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 21 × 51 mm, with 69 components from 32 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the RP2350A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the ICE40UP5K-SG48I, AP63203, TLV75512PDBV and W25Q128JVP. By type, the board carries 33 capacitors, 18 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 diodes, 3 connectors and 2 inductors.
It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.
From the project
A custom dev board based on the RP2350 microcontroller and the ICE40UP5K-SG48I FPGA.
The iCEPico is a custom PCB that pairs the RP2350 with the Lattice ICE40UP5K-SG48I FPGA. The board is modelled after the Raspberry Pi Pico, with the addition of the FPGA and a +1V2 regulator to supply it. The board matches the physical dimensions of the Pico, though it does not replicate the Pico's pinout.
I made this project because I wanted to learn FPGA design. Initially, I thought about using a BGA package but decided to go with QFN instead due to PCB costs and complexity. I had previously designed for the RP2040 but never the RP2350. I plan to use the project as a general-purpose dev…

ICEPico: common questions
What microcontroller does the ICEPico use?
The ICEPico is built around the RP2350A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the ICEPico PCB?
The ICEPico measures 21 × 51 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the ICEPico?
69 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the ICEPico design files?
From the SorenGilkeyJohnson/iCEPico repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the ICEPico design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which SorenGilkeyJohnson chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the ICEPico without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
