Dual Timbre is a dual-channel sound shaping tool that offers a modern take on the Buchla wavefolder circuit. The VCA response curve is continuously adjustable from linear to exponential. The TIMBRE and OFFSET knobs act as controls for the VCA's opening amount when no patch cable is connected, and serve as attenuators when a CV signal is present.…

DualTimbre: common questions

How big is the DualTimbre PCB?

The DualTimbre measures 82 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DualTimbre?

132 components, from 49 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DualTimbre design files?

From the StudioKAT/DualTimbre repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DualTimbre design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with StudioKAT. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
