Hackbat version based on the ESP32C6

New version of the Hackbat tool, this time based on the ESP32 C6.

The new version of hackbat features a powerful ESP32C6 from Espressif. This microcontroller features a dual core RISC-V processor, WIFI6, BT LE and a bunch of peripherals.

The package used is the WROOM-1, but it is also compatible with the 1U model adding an external antenna.

Like the original, the Hackbat ESP32 features an RF tranceiver, the CC1101 from Texas Instruments.

Hackbat esp32: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hackbat esp32 use?

The Hackbat esp32 is built around the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Hackbat esp32 PCB?

The Hackbat esp32 measures 100 × 40 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hackbat esp32?

59 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hackbat esp32 design files?

From the thehackbat/hackbat_esp32 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hackbat esp32 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with thehackbat. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Hackbat esp32 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
