About the Rom cart PCB

Rom cart is an open source PCB design by ThroatyMumbo, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 90.8 × 60 mm, with 10 components from 6 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SST39SF040 and 74HCT273. By type, the board carries 4 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs and 1 connector.

It belongs with the retro computing, audio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

RP2350-based retro style game console

This is the 2nd iteration of an ongoing project where I'm attempting to create my own homemade "retro" game console.

The rules are pretty straightforward: 1) No modern ports or protocols (no USB, HDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth, SD cards, etc.) 2) Games must be cartridge based (and must use parallel communication rather than serial) 3) Composite AV only (no VGA, S-Video, etc.)
