About the 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield

68k-SBC Supervisor Shield is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by transistorfet, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 89.9 × 53.3 mm, with 6 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Mega2560_Shield, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 1 jumper and 1 switch.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

A collection of 68k computer projects, including a unix-like operating system written in C that runs on them

Use the 68kSupervisor sketch to program the flash in-circuit, debug the CPU, or host memory and serial I/O access via the memory bus. Make sure to set the 68k-* board jumpers correctly for DTACK and the RAM location if debugging or hosting with the supervisor.

This PCB requires some changes before it can be used with the k30-SBC: - Address 0 on the ADBUS 40-pin connector (Pin 39) should be wired to Digital Input #9 (D9) of the Arudino - the WR pin on the SIGBUS 40-pin connector (Pin 14) should be wired to Digital Input #8 of the Arudino (D8). It was a duplicate of R/W on the 68k- boards, but…

68k-SBC Supervisor Shield: common questions

What microcontroller does the 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield use?

The 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield is built around the Arduino_Mega2560_Shield, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield?

The 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield measures 89.9 × 53.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield?

6 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield design files?

From the transistorfet/computie repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which transistorfet chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the 68k-SBC Supervisor Shield without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
