About the Keyboard PCB

Keyboard is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by tritoke, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 304.8 × 119.1 mm, with 199 components from 50 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the nRF52840, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the TP4056-42-ESOP8 and DW01A. By type, the board carries 74 diodes, 69 relays, 23 capacitors, 15 resistors, 3 ICs and 3 transistors.

It belongs with the keyboards and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A 65% keyboard design from scratch with PCB, case and firmware. (planned)

This is my efforts towards making the exact keyboard entirely for fun.

Wants: - Usable over USB or Bluetooth - 65% with arrow keys, ISO enter and the four keys on the right

Progress: - PCB (rev1 done) - Case (freeCAD is kicking my ass) - Firmware (I have some thoughts and that is all)

Keyboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Keyboard use?

The Keyboard is built around the nRF52840, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Keyboard PCB?

The Keyboard measures 304.8 × 119.1 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keyboard?

199 components, from 50 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keyboard design files?

From the tritoke/keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keyboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with tritoke. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Keyboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
