About the Osillyscope-2layer PCB

Osillyscope-2layer is an open source RISC-V PCB design by tvlad1234, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 49.8 × 37.3 mm, with 27 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AMS1117-3.3, from the RISC-V family. Other key parts include the TL082, CH32V003A4M6 and ICL7660. By type, the board carries 10 capacitors, 6 resistors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors and 3 switches.

It belongs with the displays & leds and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

Low cost, low part count CH32V003-based oscilloscope

Many thanks to PCBway for sponsoring this project with fast high-quality PCB prototyping.

This is a small digital oscilloscope based around the CH32V003A4M6 RISC-V microcontroller. It uses an SSD1306 I2C OLED display and three pushbuttons for the user interface. Its purpose is to be an inexpensive, easy to build and pocket-sized tool for checking the presence, levels and waveform of an unknown signal. The hardware design focuses on simplicity and low-count bill of materials.

Osillyscope-2layer: common questions

What microcontroller does the Osillyscope-2layer use?

The Osillyscope-2layer is built around the AMS1117-3.3, from the RISC-V family.

How big is the Osillyscope-2layer PCB?

The Osillyscope-2layer measures 49.8 × 37.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Osillyscope-2layer?

27 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Osillyscope-2layer design files?

From the tvlad1234/osillyscope repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Osillyscope-2layer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which tvlad1234 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Osillyscope-2layer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RISC-V firmware against it before you order a PCB.
