About the Osillyscope etchable PCB

Osillyscope etchable is an open source RISC-V PCB design by tvlad1234, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 48 × 36.5 mm, with 29 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AMS1117-3.3, from the RISC-V family. Other key parts include the TL082, CH32V003A4M6 and ICL7660. By type, the board carries 10 capacitors, 6 resistors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 3 switches and 2 test points.

It belongs with the displays & leds and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

Low cost, low part count CH32V003-based oscilloscope

Many thanks to PCBway for sponsoring this project with fast high-quality PCB prototyping.

This is a small digital oscilloscope based around the CH32V003A4M6 RISC-V microcontroller. It uses an SSD1306 I2C OLED display and three pushbuttons for the user interface. Its purpose is to be an inexpensive, easy to build and pocket-sized tool for checking the presence, levels and waveform of an unknown signal. The hardware design focuses on simplicity and low-count bill of materials.

Osillyscope etchable: common questions

What microcontroller does the Osillyscope etchable use?

The Osillyscope etchable is built around the AMS1117-3.3, from the RISC-V family.

How big is the Osillyscope etchable PCB?

The Osillyscope etchable measures 48 × 36.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Osillyscope etchable?

29 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Osillyscope etchable design files?

From the tvlad1234/osillyscope repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Osillyscope etchable design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which tvlad1234 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Osillyscope etchable without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RISC-V firmware against it before you order a PCB.
