About the RFMote PA PCB

RFMote PA is an open source STM32 PCB design by vedderb, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 64 × 27 mm, with 73 components from 40 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F40X_LQFP64, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LM3671, CC2520, CC2592 and MCP2551-I/SN. By type, the board carries 33 capacitors, 17 resistors, 7 connectors, 6 inductors, 5 ICs and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the rf & radio, robotics & motion and sensors designs in this gallery.

The RISE Self-Driving Model Vehicle Platform

This is the source code and hardware design for a model vehicle platform developed and maintained by the VESC project (formerly at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden). The platform has support for cars with Ackermann steering, robots with differential steering and partial support for quadcopters.

Self-Driving in this context means that the vehicles can follow a pre-programmed path outdoors accurately using RTK-GNSS. The paths can be edited using RControlStation as a set of points with different time stamps or velocities, depending on the mode. It is also possible to send paths to the…

RFMote PA: common questions

What microcontroller does the RFMote PA use?

The RFMote PA is built around the STM32F40X_LQFP64, from the STM32 family.

How big is the RFMote PA PCB?

The RFMote PA measures 64 × 27 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the RFMote PA?

73 components, from 40 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RFMote PA design files?

From the vedderb/rise_sdvp repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RFMote PA design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which vedderb chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the RFMote PA without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
