Coolgirl nes multicart is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by viuhimciuc, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 59 mm, with 61 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY13A-S, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the EPM1270T144, LD1117S33TR, S29GL01GP, FM18W08-SG and LY62L2568. By type, the board carries 28 capacitors, 17 resistors, 10 ICs, 3 diodes, 1 connector and 1 battery holder.

It belongs with the retro computing and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Ultimate multigame cartridge for Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

The goal of this project is to create a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) cartridge in KiCad based on the coolgirl-famicom-multicart project. This hardware design remains functionally identical to ClusterM's original project and can support up to ~700 games across various mappers.

Layers: 2 PCB Thickness: 1.2mm Edge Connectors**: Gold fingers are highly recommended

Coolgirl nes multicart: common questions

What microcontroller does the Coolgirl nes multicart use?

The Coolgirl nes multicart is built around the ATTINY13A-S, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Coolgirl nes multicart PCB?

The Coolgirl nes multicart measures 100 × 59 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Coolgirl nes multicart?

61 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Coolgirl nes multicart design files?

From the viuhimciuc/coolgirl-nes-multicart repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Coolgirl nes multicart design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with viuhimciuc. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Coolgirl nes multicart without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
