From the project
A compact, intelligent air scrubber that uses venturi-based water-air contact to dissolve and destroy pet odor compounds.
A compact, intelligent air scrubber that uses venturi-based water-air contact to dissolve and destroy pet odor compounds.
PetFilter is a hardware product that eliminates pet odors (specifically litter box ammonia, mercaptans, and VOCs) using a novel approach: water scrubbing. No consumer pet product currently exploits the fact that ammonia -- the #1 cat litter odor compound -- is extremely water-soluble.

Pet filter: common questions
What microcontroller does the Pet filter use?
The Pet filter is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Pet filter PCB?
The Pet filter measures 110 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Pet filter?
52 components, from 36 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Pet filter design files?
From the ZanzyTHEbar/pet-filter repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Pet filter design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ZanzyTHEbar. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Pet filter without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
