About the ESP32-Writer PCB

ESP32-Writer is an open source ESP32 PCB design by 74th, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 54.6 × 31.1 mm, with 29 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 6 capacitors, 4 connectors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

ESP32 Dev Boards PCB

ESP32-Writer: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP32-Writer use?

The ESP32-Writer is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the ESP32-Writer PCB?

The ESP32-Writer measures 54.6 × 31.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ESP32-Writer?

29 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP32-Writer design files?

From the 74th/esp32-dev-boards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP32-Writer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which 74th chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ESP32-Writer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
