About the Buck converter PCB
Buck converter is an open source PCB design by ajkumar-1907, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 53 × 36 mm, with 7 components from 7 distinct parts.
Other key parts include the LM2596S-5. By type, the board carries 2 connectors, 2 capacitors, 1 IC, 1 diode and 1 inductor.
It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.
From the project
Open-source library of power electronics converter topologies — KiCad schematics, working principles, use cases, and design notes for DC-DC, AC-DC, DC-AC, and AC-AC converters. Free to use, modify, and build on.
A step-down DC-DC converter that produces a lower output voltage from a higher input voltage, using a switch, inductor, diode, and capacitor.
The buck converter is one of the most fundamental switch-mode power supply (SMPS) topologies. It steps down an input DC voltage to a lower, regulated output DC voltage by rapidly switching a transistor on and off and using an inductor-capacitor (LC) filter to smooth the output.
