About the Roomnode c3-mini PCB

Roomnode c3-mini is an open source ESP32 PCB design by AskAlice, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 35 mm, with 24 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the ME6211C33, SHT40 and ALS-PT19. By type, the board carries 8 resistors, 5 capacitors, 4 ICs, 3 connectors, 2 switches and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Multifunction ESP32 (S3/C6/C3) home IoT room sensor nodes — KiCad 8 hardware, ESPHome firmware, JLCPCB-ready. One per room: presence (mmWave/PIR), BLE tracking, temp/RH, VOC, CO2, PM, lux, addressable LEDs.

Ultra-compact budget room node, 40 x 35 mm, 2-layer, all-SMD (except pin headers). Built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4 module with USB-C power/data, SHT40 temperature/humidity, analog light sensor, PIR motion input, one SK6812MINI-E addressable RGB LED, EN/BOOT buttons and a UART header.

The ESP32-C3-MINI-1 antenna faces the TOP board edge. The region y = 0..8 mm across the full board width carries NO copper on any layer (no tracks, no vias, no zone fill, no parts) per Espressif guidelines (>=15 mm clearance preferred; the module overhangs the keepout). The B.Cu GND zone polygon is clipped…

Roomnode c3-mini: common questions

What microcontroller does the Roomnode c3-mini use?

The Roomnode c3-mini is built around the ESP32-C3-MINI-1-N4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Roomnode c3-mini PCB?

The Roomnode c3-mini measures 40 × 35 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Roomnode c3-mini?

24 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Roomnode c3-mini design files?

From the AskAlice/room-node-pcbs repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Roomnode c3-mini design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with AskAlice. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Roomnode c3-mini without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
