About the Airnode s3 PCB
Airnode s3 is an open source ESP32 PCB design by AskAlice, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 50 mm, with 31 components from 18 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8R2, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, SCD41, SGP40 and SHT40. By type, the board carries 10 capacitors, 7 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 diodes, 3 connectors and 2 switches.
It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.
From the project
Multifunction ESP32 (S3/C6/C3) home IoT room sensor nodes — KiCad 8 hardware, ESPHome firmware, JLCPCB-ready. One per room: presence (mmWave/PIR), BLE tracking, temp/RH, VOC, CO2, PM, lux, addressable LEDs.
Air-quality room node on a 70 x 50 mm 2-layer SMD PCB: CO2 (SCD41), particulate matter (PMS5003), VOC (SGP40), temperature/humidity (SHT40), ESP32-S3 module, USB-C power, and a 3-LED air-quality "traffic light".
Track widths: 5 V rail 1.0 mm, 3V3 0.8 mm, I2C/UART/LED 0.4 mm. B.Cu GND zone over the whole board with stitching vias (none in the antenna keepout).

Airnode s3: common questions
What microcontroller does the Airnode s3 use?
The Airnode s3 is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8R2, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the Airnode s3 PCB?
The Airnode s3 measures 70 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Airnode s3?
31 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Airnode s3 design files?
From the AskAlice/room-node-pcbs repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Airnode s3 design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with AskAlice. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Airnode s3 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
