About the PressLog PCB
PressLog is an open source ESP32 PCB design by bansalsaksham, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 117 × 81.5 mm, with 45 components from 17 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LM2596S-5, AMS1117 and DS3231M. By type, the board carries 16 resistors, 14 capacitors, 7 connectors, 4 ICs, 2 diodes and 1 battery holder.
It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.
From the project
Manufacturing-ready PCB design for an industrial IoT downtime-logging edge node. Offline-first firmware architecture, KiCad schematics, Gerbers, and BOM.
A manufacturing-ready PCB and firmware architecture for capturing machine downtime reasons on a factory floor.
OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is only as good as its data. But capturing downtime reasons at the machine edge is a human-interface problem as much as a software one. The factory floor kills conventional UX.
- Physical First — Six large 30mm illuminated tactile buttons, one per reason code. No menus, no navigation, no scrolling. One press = one logged event, confirmed by an LED flash, an 85dB buzzer, and vibration. - Offline First — Every press is timestamped via a DS3231…

PressLog: common questions
What microcontroller does the PressLog use?
The PressLog is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the PressLog PCB?
The PressLog measures 117 × 81.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the PressLog?
45 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the PressLog design files?
From the bansalsaksham/PressLog repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the PressLog design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with bansalsaksham. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the PressLog without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
