About the AEGIS PCB

AEGIS is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by callmerishi1508, published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license. It is a board, with 16 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MDBT50Q-1MV2, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the BMI270, AFE4404, BQ25100, TPS62740 and DRV2605L. By type, the board carries 6 ICs, 2 diodes, 2 resistors, 1 module, 1 crystal and 1 connector.

It belongs with the wearables and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

An emergency guardian for India. Detects a collapse on the phone and watch a household already owns, gives the person a chance to cancel, and when nobody answers, reaches a family member, a responder and an ambulance with the five facts that change what they do.

An emergency information layer for India.

Detection is the trigger. The consent-governed information layer is the product.

A person collapses alone. Something has to notice, decide whether it is real, give them a chance to say "I'm fine", and, if nobody answers, get help to the door and tell whoever arrives the five things that change what they do. AEGIS is that chain, built to run on phones and watches people already own.

AEGIS: common questions

What microcontroller does the AEGIS use?

The AEGIS is built around the MDBT50Q-1MV2, from the Nordic nRF family.

How many components are on the AEGIS?

16 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the AEGIS design files?

From the callmerishi1508/AEGIS repository on GitHub, which has a netlist and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the AEGIS design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its AGPL-3.0 license, which callmerishi1508 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the AEGIS without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
