About the GummyPad PCB

GummyPad is an open source ESP32 PCB design by CloudsAreCloudy, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85 × 99 mm, with 46 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3_SUPERMINI_TH, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the ER_OLEDM0.91_1x-I2C and KY-040. By type, the board carries 21 diodes, 12 switches, 9 capacitors, 3 ICs and 1 test point.

It belongs with the displays & leds, keyboards and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

An ESP32 C3 SuperMini Macropad with 12 Keys, an OLED Display, Rotary Encoder, and LEDs!

All you need to do is solder the Capacitors, Display, TP4056 Module, Battery, Diodes, Switches, Rotary Encoder, and LEDs onto the PCB, 3D Print the case and use a soldering iron to push the heat set inserts into place (M2.5 screws intentionally dont have heat set inserts), flash the ESP32-C3 Super Mini with CircuitPython, Load the code.py file into the root along with the KMK files and the specified libraries, and you should be good to go!

GummyPad: common questions

What microcontroller does the GummyPad use?

The GummyPad is built around the ESP32-C3_SUPERMINI_TH, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the GummyPad PCB?

The GummyPad measures 85 × 99 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the GummyPad?

46 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the GummyPad design files?

From the CloudsAreCloudy/GummyPad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the GummyPad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with CloudsAreCloudy. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the GummyPad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
