Project Aurora: Cooper's Custom Digital Analog Watch

It is a custom designed printed circuit board that contains a ring of 12 RGB LEDs, a microcontroller, and some senors to: 1. Display the current time. Where the red LED represents the hour hand, the green LED is the minute hand and the blue LED is the second hand. 2. Display the current ambient temperature using the number of LEDs lit and the color of the LEDs for the temperature. 3. A magnetic compass with the red LED pointing north, and the blue LED pointing south 4. A read out of the current battery charge using the LEDs 5. A built in step counter 5. A flashlight that uses the red LEDs to…

Aurora-Watch: common questions

What microcontroller does the Aurora-Watch use?

The Aurora-Watch is built around the STM32U031K8Ux, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Aurora-Watch PCB?

The Aurora-Watch measures 36 × 36 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Aurora-Watch?

79 components, from 39 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Aurora-Watch design files?

From the CooperW824/Aurora-Watch repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Aurora-Watch design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which CooperW824 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Aurora-Watch without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
