About the RS485APC PCB

RS485APC is an open source PCB design by edwindertien, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 46.9 × 19.7 mm, with 12 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MAX485E and 74LVC1G126. By type, the board carries 4 capacitors, 3 connectors, 2 ICs, 2 resistors and 1 fuse.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

midi control of things that tap and go boink

Two behaviours exist on the main board right now which can be set using a small dip switch: either pulse-lenght or pwm duty cycle as third 'velocity' argument in a MIDI command.

current version (still in operation) uses an ATmega328 (started out with the ATmega8 and then the ATmega88 in WinAVR. now it uses the Arduino environment). In the meantime a version has been made using Teensy, but has not been further pursued / produces (when Teensies were made of nonobtanium). On the wishlist a new version with pico

RS485APC: common questions

How big is the RS485APC PCB?

The RS485APC measures 46.9 × 19.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the RS485APC?

12 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RS485APC design files?

From the edwindertien/foundscape repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RS485APC design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with edwindertien. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
