About the Anarchytechnobox PCB

Anarchytechnobox is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by edwindertien, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 132.6 × 100 mm, with 236 components from 76 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the 12MHZ, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the 74LVC1G126, LMR54410FDBVR, RMC20452T, HCPL-0631-500E and TLV74311PDBVR. By type, the board carries 107 capacitors, 66 resistors, 23 ICs, 22 diodes, 12 connectors and 3 inductors.

It belongs with the audio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

midi control of things that tap and go boink

The boxes are still called 'dimmer' since all channels can either be switched (solenoids, pneumatic valves) where the control parameter is a pulse duration (so short sharp tap or long, plungy tap - and everything in between) or a PWM value (used typically for LED brightness or motor velocity),

During a session at Koppelting (Amersfoort) in August 2025 we found that a very interesting additiion in just 'dimming' channels is also PWM (frequency) control and AWG / synthesis to make actuators sound even more. During the session the requirements below have been updated and start has been made…

Anarchytechnobox: common questions

What microcontroller does the Anarchytechnobox use?

The Anarchytechnobox is built around the 12MHZ, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Anarchytechnobox PCB?

The Anarchytechnobox measures 132.6 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6554 mm thick.

How many components are on the Anarchytechnobox?

236 components, from 76 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Anarchytechnobox design files?

From the edwindertien/foundscape repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Anarchytechnobox design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with edwindertien. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Anarchytechnobox without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
