About the Diy watch PCB

Diy watch is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by elsw, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 37.1 × 37 mm, with 43 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the DS3231MZ, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q16JVUXIQ, FTE-2CA-V-T/R, RP2040, XC6210B332MR and ltc4071ems8e#pbf. By type, the board carries 18 resistors, 11 capacitors, 7 ICs, 2 diodes, 1 crystal and 1 connector.

It belongs with the wearables, power & battery and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

- No Vcc out of the LTC4071 chip, swapped LBSEL to set the Low Battery Connect to 3.6V but never get any voltage out. Change to MCP73833? also cheaper. reference curcuit - Cannot debug RP2040 code, got it working once but not again, I think it's something up with the cdoe itself, debugging reliable blink code though... (change to pico 2??) (try embassy???)

Diy watch: common questions

What microcontroller does the Diy watch use?

The Diy watch is built around the DS3231MZ, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Diy watch PCB?

The Diy watch measures 37.1 × 37 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Diy watch?

43 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Diy watch design files?

From the elsw/diy_watch repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Diy watch design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with elsw. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Diy watch without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
