About the Rpboard squared PCB

Rpboard squared is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by euvalennn, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 31.3 × 67 mm, with 56 components from 27 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2350_60QFN, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the NCP1117-3.3_SOT223, W25Q128JVS and TP4056-42-ESOP8. By type, the board carries 23 capacitors, 13 resistors, 8 connectors, 4 ICs, 3 diodes and 2 switches.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts, displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

Simple RP2350-based devboard

RPBoard² is a simple RP2350-based board with multiple convenient features built-in. It's my first "actual" PCB project (I only did a hackpad before)

I wanted to build a devboard to learn more about actual PCB design and electronics, instead of using pre-made boards. I considered it as a personal challenge and ended up learning a lot on the two weeks it took me to make it :D

Rpboard squared: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rpboard squared use?

The Rpboard squared is built around the RP2350_60QFN, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Rpboard squared PCB?

The Rpboard squared measures 31.3 × 67 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rpboard squared?

56 components, from 27 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rpboard squared design files?

From the euvalennn/rpboard-squared repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rpboard squared design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with euvalennn. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rpboard squared without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
