It belongs with the iot & wireless, power & battery and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

The project Hornbill will also offer a rugged IP6 water/dust proof case and multipurpose baseboard to build rugged hardware. We will be writing numerous bare metal as well as Arduino tutorials to get you started.

The project Hornbill will also offer a rugged IP6 water/dust proof case and multipurpose baseboard to build rugged hardware. We will be writing numerous bare metal as well as Arduino tutorials to get you started.

We believe IoT devices need to be more secure and we will work on providing end to end TLS1.2 encryption with major IoT cloud platforms. We will also on top build Open Source IoT frameworks to provide templates to run your own secure servers!

Hornbill-ESP32-DEV: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hornbill-ESP32-DEV use?

The Hornbill-ESP32-DEV is built around the ESP-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Hornbill-ESP32-DEV PCB?

The Hornbill-ESP32-DEV measures 25.4 × 60.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hornbill-ESP32-DEV?

45 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hornbill-ESP32-DEV design files?

From the ExploreEmbedded/Hornbill-ESP32-DEV repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hornbill-ESP32-DEV design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ExploreEmbedded. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Hornbill-ESP32-DEV without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
