From the project

The freeDSPx ADAT IO x4 is a digital IO expansion board for the freeDSP family. It provides 4 Lightpipe(I2S) inputs and 4 Lightpipe outputs via single Toslink Cable. 48kHz sampled 8ch 23bits (23bit I8S) audio stream and 1bit Logic Signal information will transfered via single TOS
