About the Z80Card PCB

Z80Card is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by galjonsfigur, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85.6 × 54 mm, with 77 components from 36 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega32A-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74HC00, Z84C00xxAEG, 628128, TC2117-3.3VDB and 74VHC125. By type, the board carries 25 resistors, 23 capacitors, 10 ICs, 9 diodes, 3 connectors and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the retro computing and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Z80 Single Board Computer that fits in ID-1 card dimenstions, compatibile with Z80-MBC2 project

This repository contains Schematics, KiCad design files and software for Z80 Single Board Computer that fits in ID-1 card dimensions. It's SMD version of a very popular Z80-MBC2 project with all addons (I2C I/O expander, SD Card, RTC, USB-UART) built-in. Fully compatible with IOS firmware written for ATMega32 used on Z80-MBC2. Assembly does not involve components smaller than 0805 SMD passives and ICs smaller than SOT-23-5.

Z80Card: common questions

What microcontroller does the Z80Card use?

The Z80Card is built around the ATmega32A-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Z80Card PCB?

The Z80Card measures 85.6 × 54 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Z80Card?

77 components, from 36 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Z80Card design files?

From the galjonsfigur/Z80Card repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Z80Card design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which galjonsfigur chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Z80Card without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
