About the Peacock PCB

Peacock is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by george-norton, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 172 × 152.9 mm, with 74 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the W25Q16JVUXIQ, MIC5323-3.3YD5-TR, mXT336UD-MAU002, SN74LVC1T45DRL and USBLC6-2P6. By type, the board carries 39 capacitors, 15 resistors, 7 ICs, 6 LEDs, 3 connectors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A big QMK powered trackpad

Peacock is an RP2040 powered trackpad running QMK. It features an integrated Microchip MaxTouch sensor IC which is connected to a 7" capacitive sensor. I also designed some little trackpads which you can integrate into your own keyboards, see Procyon.

The Ploopy trackpad is like a more polished Peacock, with a higher resolution sensor. It runs code build from the same QMK/ZMK branches, and is easier to buy.

Peacock: common questions

What microcontroller does the Peacock use?

The Peacock is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Peacock PCB?

The Peacock measures 172 × 152.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Peacock?

74 components, from 28 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Peacock design files?

From the george-norton/peacock repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Peacock design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which george-norton chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Peacock without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
