About the EuroFly PCB

EuroFly is an open source STM32 PCB design by GigelBosket, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 38.6 × 38.6 mm, with 99 components from 43 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AO3400A, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AT7456E, W25Q256JVEIQ, USBLC6-2SC6, STM32H743VIH6 and BMP585. By type, the board carries 51 capacitors, 23 resistors, 10 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 diodes and 3 inductors.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

EuroFly is a 5 inch FPV drone based on Basher 5 carbon frame featuring high durability and high customization from aspect to funcionality.

While EuroFly drone will use DJI O4 wide air unit for camera and video transmitter it also supports analog video including an OSD for a better experience.

Motors are protected by a motor cover that should be 3d printed with ASA or other materials that are recommended for outside use.

I chose a 2400mAh battery with a 150C rating as it is the maximum size that can be used on the drone without risking a battery strike by the props as battery might slightly move while flying.

EuroFly: common questions

What microcontroller does the EuroFly use?

The EuroFly is built around the AO3400A, from the STM32 family.

How big is the EuroFly PCB?

The EuroFly measures 38.6 × 38.6 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the EuroFly?

99 components, from 43 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the EuroFly design files?

From the GigelBosket/EuroFly repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the EuroFly design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which GigelBosket chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the EuroFly without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
