About the GRAVITAS PCB

GRAVITAS is an open source STM32 PCB design by GoTouchGra55, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 60 × 84.3 mm, with 111 components from 60 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32H743VITx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the ICM-45686, BMP580, SX1262IMLTRT, TPS63070RNMR and LMR51430. By type, the board carries 43 capacitors, 28 resistors, 11 connectors, 7 ICs, 6 inductors and 4 transistors.

It belongs with the rf & radio and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

It's a rocket flight computer!

I had a lot of fun designing this project, though there may still be a few mistakes here and there, so forgive me for that

Feel free to suggest improvements, modify the design, or contribute your own ideas to the project as well!

1. Use a 2s LiPo battery if you decide to use this board in your project. Discard the battery if it smells "funny".

2. Check for any damage on the pcb as it can be the reason for a catastrophic failure.

GRAVITAS: common questions

What microcontroller does the GRAVITAS use?

The GRAVITAS is built around the STM32H743VITx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the GRAVITAS PCB?

The GRAVITAS measures 60 × 84.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the GRAVITAS?

111 components, from 60 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the GRAVITAS design files?

From the GoTouchGra55/GRAVITAS repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the GRAVITAS design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which GoTouchGra55 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the GRAVITAS without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
