About the DAQ-V4.1 PCB

DAQ-V4.1 is an open source STM32 PCB design by IlyaasAitSimmou, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 38 × 100 mm, with 76 components from 41 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F407VGTX, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the W25Q64JVSSIQ, LSM6DSV32XTR, ADXL375BCCZ, MS560702BA03-50 and AP63203WU. By type, the board carries 32 capacitors, 12 resistors, 6 ICs, 5 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the rf & radio, sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This GitHub Repository contains all kiCad files related to the SRAD data aqcuisition flight computer, KRAKENBANE I which was flown at Launch Canada on the Goldeneye rocket by the Turner Fenton Rocketry Association (TFRA) high school rocketry team.

A data acquisition (DAQ) flight computer for a model rocket, designed for the Launch Canada competition. The system is two KiCad projects: a main flight computer board and a GNSS breakout that mounts separately and connects over a cable.

This is my first PCB design using SMT components, developed with support from university rocketry team members.

The two boards are joined by a 6-pin JST GH (1.25 mm) cable carrying 3.3 V, GND, UART TX/RX, TIMEPULSE, and NRESET.

DAQ-V4.1: common questions

What microcontroller does the DAQ-V4.1 use?

The DAQ-V4.1 is built around the STM32F407VGTX, from the STM32 family.

How big is the DAQ-V4.1 PCB?

The DAQ-V4.1 measures 38 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DAQ-V4.1?

76 components, from 41 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DAQ-V4.1 design files?

From the IlyaasAitSimmou/krakenbane_one_pcb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DAQ-V4.1 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with IlyaasAitSimmou. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the DAQ-V4.1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
