About the Console pocket PCB

Console pocket is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by jmcpheron, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 51 × 85 mm, with 16 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the SC1633, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 7 switches, 5 resistors, 1 IC, 1 transistor and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

One board for the console, the small one: a Pico 2 W soldered on the back as a module, a bare 1.54″ ST7789 240×240 panel on the front, seven buttons, and pads for the key's wires. It runs the same console image as the dev console, on the same GPIOs, so the firmware does not change.

It is the third one-board console in this repository, drawn in parallel with the other two: console-pcb/console-a is Build 1 on one board (2.8″ screen, knob, USB-C plug) and console-a/console-a is the Waveshare build with a 1.3″ panel and nine…

Console pocket: common questions

What microcontroller does the Console pocket use?

The Console pocket is built around the SC1633, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Console pocket PCB?

The Console pocket measures 51 × 85 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Console pocket?

16 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Console pocket design files?

From the jmcpheron/pico-quorum repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Console pocket design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which jmcpheron chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Console pocket without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
