About the Console a PCB

Console a is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by jmcpheron, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 92 × 52 mm, with 31 components from 14 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the SC1633, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the TPS22945DCKR and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 11 resistors, 9 switches, 4 ICs, 4 capacitors, 1 transistor and 1 connector.

From the project

Not to be confused with console-pcb/console-a, the one-board Build 1 (2.8″ screen, knob, USB-C plug), drawn in parallel. Both are called console-a, so tools/keypcb names this one console-a/console-a.

One board that holds the whole console: a Pico 2 W, a bare 1.3″ 240×240 color panel, nine buttons, and pads for the key. It's wired exactly like the Waveshare Pico-LCD-1.3, so the console image runs on it unchanged. It keeps BOARD = "waveshare" (the default), with no firmware change and no new release.

Console a: common questions

What microcontroller does the Console a use?

The Console a is built around the SC1633, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Console a PCB?

The Console a measures 92 × 52 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Console a?

31 components, from 14 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Console a design files?

From the jmcpheron/pico-quorum repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Console a design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which jmcpheron chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Console a without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
