About the Expanders PCB

Expanders is an open source WCH CH32/CH55x PCB design by koko69420, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 21.1 × 26.8 mm, with 9 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the TSSOP-20-1EP_4.4x6.5mm_P0.65mm_EP2.15x3.35mm, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family. Other key parts include the MAX491E and 74HC165. By type, the board carries 6 connectors and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the test & measurement and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Hard wired home automation, based on a RSICV MCU and RS-422 communication protocol

The HomeBus Expanders module provides a set of standardized breakout adapters and prototyping daughterboards engineered for rapid bench testing, firmware development, in-circuit emulation, and breadboard interfacing of high-density surface-mount devices (SMD) used throughout the HomeBus ecosystem.

- Standard Breadboard Compatibility: Spacing between header rows aligns with standard 300-mil and 600-mil breadboards and female socket strips. - Test Points & Silkscreen: Clearly marked pin numbers and signal designations for probe grounding and logic analyzer clip attachment. - Fabrication Plots…

Expanders: common questions

What microcontroller does the Expanders use?

The Expanders is built around the TSSOP-20-1EP_4.4x6.5mm_P0.65mm_EP2.15x3.35mm, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family.

How big is the Expanders PCB?

The Expanders measures 21.1 × 26.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Expanders?

9 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Expanders design files?

From the koko69420/HomeBus repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Expanders design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with koko69420. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Expanders without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug WCH CH32/CH55x firmware against it before you order a PCB.
