About the Arctrack PCB

Arctrack is an open source ESP32 PCB design by leeeeeeeeeeeeee2, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 40 × 60.5 mm, with 55 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3FH4, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the MPU-6050, BMP280, AMS REG, TP4056 and SERVO 5V BOOST. By type, the board carries 23 capacitors, 14 resistors, 6 ICs, 5 connectors, 2 inductors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the power & battery, rf & radio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

a model rocket flight computer

ArcTrack is a compact flight computer for model rockets. It logs altitude and motion to a microSD card, reads GPS, and lets you live-track the rocket over WiFi from your phone. v1.3 adds a power LED, buzzer, and servo header for nose-cone parachute deploy at apogee.

Designed for a BT-70 body tube with a 3D-printed nose avionics bay.

Hardware: bare ESP32-C3FH4 (QFN-32, 4MB flash) + 2.4 GHz chip antenna, USB-C, LiPo charger, 3.3 V regulator, BMP280, MPU-6050, microSD, GPS header, servo + 5 V boost.

Arctrack design files

The KiCad project lives in the leeeeeeeeeeeeee2/arctrack repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Arctrack: common questions

What microcontroller does the Arctrack use?

The Arctrack is built around the ESP32-C3FH4, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Arctrack PCB?

The Arctrack measures 40 × 60.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Arctrack?

55 components, from 35 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Arctrack design files?

From the leeeeeeeeeeeeee2/arctrack repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Arctrack design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which leeeeeeeeeeeeee2 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Arctrack without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
