About the Project Skyfall PCB

Project Skyfall is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Melih2123, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 55.3 × 42.3 mm, with 51 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the BMP280, ICM-20948, W25Q128JVE, TMP100 and LT1963AxST-3.3. By type, the board carries 17 ICs, 12 capacitors, 10 resistors, 3 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open-source. Modular. Built to grow. Powered by ESP32-S3 and lots of prayers ;_;

Project Skyfall is an open-source modular aviation companion built around the ESP32-S3.

Skyfall is not intended to replace certified avionics.

Instead, it serves as a modular companion platform for experimentation, education, research and personal projects.

Instead of putting everything onto one PCB, Skyfall uses stackable daughterboards.

Project Skyfall: common questions

What microcontroller does the Project Skyfall use?

The Project Skyfall is built around the ESP32-S3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Project Skyfall PCB?

The Project Skyfall measures 55.3 × 42.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Project Skyfall?

51 components, from 28 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Project Skyfall design files?

From the Melih2123/Project_Skyfall repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Project Skyfall design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Melih2123. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Project Skyfall without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
