From the project

WiFi Enabled Gate Control Board

This board performs the same functions as my WiFi Gate Controller, which was designed to add WiFi and Home Assistant control to an existing US Automation Gate Opener board, while providing motor control and standard gate inputs. This board will replace a US Automation Gate Opener board. All inputs are now generalized and also support 10k resistor monitoring for safety devices like edge or photoelectric inputs.

WiFi-Gate-Control-Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the WiFi-Gate-Control-Board use?

The WiFi-Gate-Control-Board is built around the ATSAMD21G18A-MUT, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the WiFi-Gate-Control-Board?

The WiFi-Gate-Control-Board measures 139.7 × 158.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the WiFi-Gate-Control-Board?

252 components, from 63 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the WiFi-Gate-Control-Board design files?

From the mikelawrence/WiFi-Gate-Control-Board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the WiFi-Gate-Control-Board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mikelawrence. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the WiFi-Gate-Control-Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
