Collaboration: keithley199-upgrade on GitHub (branch main).

This is an upgrade replacement for the digital control board on Keithley 199 multimeters.

The Keithley 199 is a digital multimeter built in the nineties. It is capable of current, voltage and resistance measurements and also provides a gpib interface for remote control.

These multimeters contains three electronic circuit boards, one which contains the analog circuitry, including analog signal conditioning and analog digital converter, a display board which contains the user interface, and a digital control board, with a processor…

Keithley 199 Digital board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Keithley 199 Digital board use?

The Keithley 199 Digital board is built around the PIC32MX350F128L, from the PIC family.

How big is the Keithley 199 Digital board?

The Keithley 199 Digital board measures 90 × 65 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keithley 199 Digital board?

79 components, from 39 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keithley 199 Digital board design files?

From the Na55im/keithley199-upgrade repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keithley 199 Digital board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which Na55im chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Keithley 199 Digital board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
