About the SnakeBoy PCB
SnakeBoy is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Nadoooor, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 180 × 85 mm, with 22 components from 16 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-DEVKITC-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the Joystick, TFT_320x240, TP4056 Module and max98357. By type, the board carries 7 switches, 7 resistors, 4 ICs, 2 speakers, 1 module and 1 battery holder.
It belongs with the iot & wireless, audio and retro computing designs in this gallery.
From the project
A snake-styled game boy clone.
1. 3D print and get all the parts. 2. Solder all the components in the PCB. 3. Use the Female Pin-Headers for easy installation for the screen & ESP32 S3. 5. Put the PCB into the case. 4. Plug the speakers and the battery. 6. Double face for the speakers would be enough. 7. close the front Case with the screw. 8. Plug the ESP32 S3 to your laptop and Upload the firmware. 9. Close the back-cover. 10. Switch on the device and ENJOYYY ❤️.

SnakeBoy: common questions
What microcontroller does the SnakeBoy use?
The SnakeBoy is built around the ESP32-S3-DEVKITC-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.
How big is the SnakeBoy PCB?
The SnakeBoy measures 180 × 85 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the SnakeBoy?
22 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the SnakeBoy design files?
From the Nadoooor/SnakeBoy repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the SnakeBoy design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Nadoooor chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the SnakeBoy without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
