About the RX 50MHz SDR PCB

RX 50MHz SDR is an open source ESP32 PCB design by ne9n, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 150 × 85 mm, with 44 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the LT5560EDD#PBF, SPF5043Z, Si5351A-B-GT, AP2112K-3.3TRG1 and BGS12PL6. By type, the board carries 12 connectors, 11 capacitors, 7 ICs, 4 inductors, 3 diodes and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the rf & radio and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This project focuses on designing and building a modern 50MHz (6-meter) radio control system using the amateur radio bands. It features a high-power 1W transmitter and a high-sensitivity receiver, integrated into a vintage Kraft 7 transmitter case with a modern digital encoder.

RX 50MHz SDR: common questions

What microcontroller does the RX 50MHz SDR use?

The RX 50MHz SDR is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the RX 50MHz SDR PCB?

The RX 50MHz SDR measures 150 × 85 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the RX 50MHz SDR?

44 components, from 33 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RX 50MHz SDR design files?

From the ne9n/RC_6m repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RX 50MHz SDR design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ne9n. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the RX 50MHz SDR without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
