Known Issue(s): V1.2: - The VDD pin on the PAM8301 chip is missing a 1 uF and a 10 uF decoupling capacitor. Without these, the speaker audio will randomly drop out. Fixed in v1.3.

CircuitPythonBadge: common questions

What microcontroller does the CircuitPythonBadge use?

The CircuitPythonBadge is built around the ATSAMD51J19A-AU, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the CircuitPythonBadge PCB?

The CircuitPythonBadge measures 90 × 90 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CircuitPythonBadge?

62 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CircuitPythonBadge design files?

From the neubauek/CircuitPythonBadge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CircuitPythonBadge design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with neubauek. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the CircuitPythonBadge without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
