About the Claude ir PCB

Claude ir is an open source ESP32 PCB design by njdancer, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 92 × 44 mm, with 51 components from 31 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, TSOP382xx and AP63203WU-7. By type, the board carries 21 resistors, 10 diodes, 9 capacitors, 4 ICs, 3 connectors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts, iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

ESP32 IR Remote Control Development Board - Smart AC remote with WiFi/HomeKit integration

A smart IR controller for an ActronAir (rebranded Midea) air conditioner. The remote's IR protocol has been fully reverse-engineered, and a working ESP8266 breadboard transmits real commands to the AC. The active mission is a custom ESP32-C3 dev board, taken from schematic → PCB → fabricated, verified unit → production firmware → eventual HomeKit.

Claude ir: common questions

What microcontroller does the Claude ir use?

The Claude ir is built around the ESP32-C3-WROOM-02, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Claude ir PCB?

The Claude ir measures 92 × 44 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Claude ir?

51 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Claude ir design files?

From the njdancer/claude-ir repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Claude ir design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with njdancer. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Claude ir without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
