About the Flytboj PCB

Flytboj is an open source ESP32 PCB design by obobed, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 109.7 × 95.3 mm, with 54 components from 35 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-C3-DIP, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the TP5100, MT3608 and AP63205WU. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 15 resistors, 7 diodes, 4 ICs, 4 transistors and 3 switches.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

(in the real assembled version, the components should be facing down to allow space for the actual original LED board, but here it's the wrong side up in order to showcase the PCB so you can see more than just a blank back plane of the pcb.

10. Place Flytboj upside down onto the poles 11. Route the barrel jack traces through the cuts in the board into a good position to solder 12. Solder the barrel jack cables and the LED cables (routed through the big circle in the middle) 13. Put the LED module back on 14. Screw everything up 15. Plug in and enjoy

Flytboj: common questions

What microcontroller does the Flytboj use?

The Flytboj is built around the XIAO-ESP32-C3-DIP, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Flytboj PCB?

The Flytboj measures 109.7 × 95.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Flytboj?

54 components, from 35 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Flytboj design files?

From the obobed/flytboj repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Flytboj design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which obobed chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Flytboj without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
