This is a new version of the Bias Generator that has an additional customizable current limiting feature, modified components and been designed for easier construction. It also has much higher output current and can be used to drive larger SiPMs or arrays of multiple SiPMs.

Bias generator LT8362: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bias generator LT8362 use?

The Bias generator LT8362 is built around the ATSAMD21E18A-AFT, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the Bias generator LT8362 PCB?

The Bias generator LT8362 measures 37.6 × 30.6 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.59 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bias generator LT8362?

45 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bias generator LT8362 design files?

From the OpenSiPM/sipm-bias-control repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bias generator LT8362 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which OpenSiPM chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bias generator LT8362 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
