About the Msxnano board8020 PCB

Msxnano board8020 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Papipapito, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 85 × 56 mm, with 39 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, FE1.1S and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 11 capacitors, 7 ICs, 7 connectors, 7 resistors, 5 fuses and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards, iot & wireless and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Proof-of-concept M0S (BL616) carrier boards for the Tang Nano 20K / MSXnano — integrated USB companion + hub + WiFi so the USB keyboard works on locked '3921' boards, no external dock. Placas de prueba de concepto con M0S.

MSXnano carrier in Raspberry Pi 3 form factor (85 × 56 mm), fully modular. Placa portadora MSXnano con formato Raspberry Pi 3 (85 × 56 mm), totalmente modular.

Instead of soldering the USB companion and WiFi chips (like ../dock20k), this board takes plug-in modules: a Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040) as the USB-HID companion and an ESP-01S for WiFi — so there is nothing exotic to source or reflow, and the RPi3 outline drops into any Pi-3 case/mount.

Msxnano board8020: common questions

What microcontroller does the Msxnano board8020 use?

The Msxnano board8020 is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Msxnano board8020 PCB?

The Msxnano board8020 measures 85 × 56 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Msxnano board8020?

39 components, from 22 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Msxnano board8020 design files?

From the Papipapito/MSXnano-Boards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Msxnano board8020 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Papipapito. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Msxnano board8020 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
