Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R2, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the DRV8353SRTAT, USBLC6-2P6, ADUM3160BRWZ-RL, AMS1117-3.3 and XL7015E1. By type, the board carries 40 capacitors, 40 resistors, 13 ICs, 10 connectors, 6 transistors and 4 diodes.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Kicad Hardware files and docs for the PACE V0 board (RACER)

How this repo works: humans commit KiCad sources; CI (KiBot) runs ERC and DRC on every PR and builds gerbers, BOM, position, ibom, PDFs, STEP and renders. Tagging VnRm publishes those as a GitHub Release. See docs/style-guide.md for conventions and docs/decisions/ for the why behind unusual choices.

The PACE V0 (RACER) is a high-performance, intelligent 3-phase inverter platform powered by an ESP32-S3. It is engineered to support both high-frequency Field-Oriented Control (FOC) and traditional Trapezoidal (Block) Commutation strategies.

Pace racer hardware: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pace racer hardware use?

The Pace racer hardware is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R2, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Pace racer hardware PCB?

The Pace racer hardware measures 0 × 0 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.566 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pace racer hardware?

118 components, from 50 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pace racer hardware design files?

From the rammp-org/pace-racer-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pace racer hardware design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with rammp-org. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Pace racer hardware without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
