The Raspberry Pi Pico module is based on the RP2040 microprocessor. The module includes flash memory, power supply, crystal clock and a USB interface. It is an easy way to to integrate this processor without detail PCB layout and at attractive cost. The Pi Pico Module have different variants which are pin compatible. They offer different USB Connectors(Micro-B, USB-C), Wireless and bluetooth integrated, and a higher performance version in the RP2350. Pi Pico Data sheet

Project athena: common questions

What microcontroller does the Project athena use?

The Project athena is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Project athena PCB?

The Project athena measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Project athena?

77 components, from 33 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Project athena design files?

From the reading-hackspace/project-athena repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Project athena design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with reading-hackspace. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Project athena without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
