This is my rendition of the uTerm2-S by Just4Fun (https://hackaday.io/project/181583-uterm2-s-a-multi-emulation-color-rs232-terminal). My one is in SMD, and I hopefully made it easily hand-solderable for everyone. Obviously the 'n' in nTerm stands for 'nano.' :P

The nTerm2-S has a slightly more usable form than the uTerm2-S, I think. Smaller and more of a format of a useful tool. A "throw it in a drawer and grab it when you need it"- type of device. Taking little desk space and layed out for quick plugging and unplugging serial devices. For that I have also made it so that it can switch…

NTerm2-S-FT231: common questions

What microcontroller does the NTerm2-S-FT231 use?

The NTerm2-S-FT231 is built around the ESP32-WROOM-32, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the NTerm2-S-FT231 PCB?

The NTerm2-S-FT231 measures 147.3 × 55.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the NTerm2-S-FT231?

117 components, from 59 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the NTerm2-S-FT231 design files?

From the RetepV/nTerm2-S-FT231 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the NTerm2-S-FT231 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with RetepV. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the NTerm2-S-FT231 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
