About the Phase3-routed review PCB

Phase3-routed review is an open source ESP32 PCB design by skywalker0507, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 92 × 48 mm, with 70 components from 34 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6, AP63203WU-7, TMUX1574PWR and TLV803EA26RDBZR. By type, the board carries 22 resistors, 15 diodes, 9 capacitors, 5 ICs, 5 transistors and 4 connectors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

ESP32-S3 Wi-Fi remote STM32 flashing and logging probe. Tscircuit remains the declarative source for the schematic, exact footprints, BOM, and reviewed placement. Phase 3 routing is maintained in the KiCad project under kicad/.

The first hardware revision supports self-powered 3.3 V targets only: VTREFIN` must be within 3.0 V to 3.6 V. VTREF is a sense/reference input and never powers the target. TMUX1574 is a bidirectional switch, not a level translator; 1.8 V and 5 V targets are not supported.

Phase3-routed review: common questions

What microcontroller does the Phase3-routed review use?

The Phase3-routed review is built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Phase3-routed review PCB?

The Phase3-routed review measures 92 × 48 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Phase3-routed review?

70 components, from 34 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Phase3-routed review design files?

From the skywalker0507/remote-flash-probe-tscircuit repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Phase3-routed review design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with skywalker0507. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Phase3-routed review without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
